Monitoring

Monitoring during the PhD

Several tools are used to monitor your work.

  • Registration

Each year you need a signed agreement from the director of the ED or the person in charge of your university. This could be an occasion for a short informal talk (maybe 5 mn if averything is fine) to keep us informed.

  • Mid-PhD interview

In February (typically) of your second year, the doctoral school will meet you for a one hour interview. You will have about 20 mn to present all aspects of your PhD (both scientific and others), before a separate discussions with you and your supervisor.

  • "Comité de suivi individuel"

This committee, made compulsory by the new decree, is made up of at least two people who "are not involved in supervising the research work", one of whom is not a specialist in the field, and if possible someone from outside the university. The committee meets at least once a year, and must submit a written report. This report is compulsory to authorise re-registration for the next academic year. It is up to the laboratory, in consultation with the doctoral student and his/her supervisory team, to propose a committee, if possible a few months after the start of the thesis.

You will find a guide to the ISC in this document.

The report template has become more rigid. The ED proposes a template (pdf, docx or pages) for the monitoring committee report. It is used for PSL and Paris-cité.

For Sorbonne Université, use this pdf or word format.
