Contract
Doctoral Contract and various employment contracts
Depending on your funding, various contracts are possible :
- The Contrat Doctoral /.
This is the most frequent case. Whatever the origin of your funding, the money is given to your registration University. You sign your contract with this University. It follows an official law, décret du 29 août 2016, which is a 3 years employment contract with the French government. - Le contrat CIFRE /.
This is a contract with a private company interested in your thesis subject. It provides part of the funding, and you usually spend part of your time in its laboratories. - A contract / with some another public or semi-public entity (CNRS ou EPIC) /.
These contracts depend on the specific status of the entity (CNRS, CEA, ...). Usually, they follow closely the rules of a "Contrat Doctoral", but with some specificities. Check them before signing your contract. Specifically, check if teaching is allowed if you wish to do so, since it may not be systematically the case. - Funding from a foreign government / or an university out of France.
If your funding comes directly from your country of origin, you may get the money directly without any contract. This is usually not optimal, and we would prefer for the funding to go through your University of registration to allow for the signature of a "Contrat Doctoral". If this is not possible, please contact us as soon as possible to allow for your specific case to be checked. If your grant is too low, we may ask your laboratory to find some supplementary funding.
