Monitoring during the PhD

Several tools are used to monitor your work.

  • Registration

Each year you need a signed agreement from the director of the ED or the person in charge of your university. This should be an occasion for a short informal talk (maybe 5 mn if averything is fine) to keep us informed.

  • Mid-PhD interview

In February (typically) of your second year, the doctoral school will meet you for a one hour interview. You will have about 20 mn to present all aspects of your PhD (both scientific and others), before a separate discussions with you and your supervisor.

  • "Comité de suivi"

This committee has been created by the new "Arrêté" (official rules) from the Higher EducationMinistary. It includes at least two people "who are not taking part in the research work". It meets with you at least once a year et provides written conclusions on the interview. these conclusions are mandatory for registration in 3rd year / and above (if needed). You are in charge (together with your supervisor) to chose these committee members a few months after the beginning of you thesis. Check with your laboratory for internal usage.
